    Zelena infrastruktura u urbanističkom planiranju – Green Infrastructure in Urban Planning

    “Green Infrastructure in Urban Planning” investigates the state and challenges of planning and developing green infrastructure in Belgrade. It offers an analysis of the regulatory framework, public policy and current practices, highlighting inconsistencies in planning and maintaining green areas. Special emphasis is placed on the participation of citizens and the current state of greenery. It contains suggestions for improving legal and planning frameworks, and for maintaining green infrastructure. There are results of cooperation between experts and local organisations with the goal of integrating the concept of green infrastructure in the urban plan of a healthier and more sustainable Belgrade.

Politics, business, and the media in the region are often characterized by authoritarian, corrupt, and intransparent structures, which are summarized under the term “state capture. Now this has changed with the first Green mayors, city councilors, and members of local and national parliaments. In his book, author Vedran Horvat takes a personal journey through the last two decades of politics in the Western Balkans and sheds light on the potential of green politics under extremely difficult conditions.
