Discussion for promoting the book “Here, at last. Pathways of Green Politics in the Western Balkans”
- News
The Belgrade Office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Center for Green Politics invite you to the promotion and public discussion to commemorate the release of the book “Here, at last. Pathways of Green Politics in the Western Balkans” by Vedran Horvat. This publication by the Heinrich Böll Foundation provides a historical overview on the development of green politics in the Western Balkans and presents the key actors who have shaped these movements.
The author of the book raises numerous questions, some of which will also be the focus of the public discussion:
What triggered the emergence of green initiatives in the Western Balkans? Which spheres of social life do the actors driving green politics in the region come from? Why have green initiatives in some countries, such as Serbia and Montenegro, managed to develop into relatively successful political parties, while in others such developments have not materialized? To what extent has the experience of the political party Možemo! from Croatia influenced the development of green politics across the region? How does the understanding of the concept and notion of “green politics” differ between Croatia and the European Union, and in the Western Balkans?
The book promotion and public discussion will take place on October 28, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Cultural Center Grad, Braće Krsmanović 4, Belgrade. The speakers at the event will be:
Vedran Horvat, author of the book and Executive Director of the Institute for Political Ecology, Zagreb
Biljana Đorđević, co-president of the Green-Left Front and a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia
Iva Ivšić, city councilor in the Zagreb City Assembly and member of the Možemo! party
Predrag Momčilović, Director of the Center for Green Politics, Belgrade
The discussion will be moderated by Srđan Hercigonja, Program Coordinator at the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Belgrade.
